A visual tribute to Roser Bru"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work and spirit of the legendary Chilean Taller 99, the printmaking workshop founded by Nemesio Ant\u00fanez in 1956 in Santiago de Chile and in which Roser Bru participated throughout her life, was a source of inspiration for the Valencian artist Paula Bonet, who founded her own workshop in Barcelona in 2018: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallerlamadriguera.com\/\">La madriguera<\/a>. Following the principles and the guidance of the Chilean workshop, Bonet has created at La madriguera a space and workshop for learning and creative freedom, but also a place of encounter and refuge for women driven by creativity.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">he exhibition \u201cOne of a kind is nothing\u201d presents a selection of works by the students of La madriguera, which in turn enter into dialogue with the works and prints of Roser Bru, as an extension of the exhibition \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/museuart.com\/roser-bru-superar-la-distancia\/\">Roser Bru. Overcoming Distance <\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen a plate is too polished, it lacks a strong mark,\u201d Roser Bru used to say when she saw her students working on an overly refined piece. Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Bannen, Josefina Carvalho, Vanina Fern\u00e1ndez, Diana Gavi\u00f1o, Noel de Le\u00f3n, Laura Medina, Min\u00fa Rao, Ana\u00eds Vaillant and Milena Vodanovic have learned, through \u201cOne of a kind is nothing,\u201d to measure the strength of their own mark.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They arrived at La madriguera from Argentina, Cuba, Uruguay, Colombia, and Chile. By observing Roser Bru\u2019s work, they saw themselves. By studying a bread roll, a table, or a pumpkin, and tracing with their gaze the generous contours of Bru\u2019s powerful female figures on canvas, they confronted\u2014almost without realising it\u2014the subject of food, of tables, and of their own contours.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What you see on these walls is the result of this process of research and some of the conclusions they have reached. The awareness that comes from being many, while remaining attentive to one\u2019s own work and not forgetting the importance of what happens on the adjacent easel, has allowed them to leave behind a path of pomegranate seeds, pumpkin and watermelon, fig juice, drops of blood and a red thread that, if we allow ourselves to follow it, will lift us off the ground almost without noticing.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of a kind is nothing\u201d is a project developed collectively, but also from personal obsessions, even the most private ones\u2014those that lead us to this craft that is as wonderful as it is daunting: painting. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THE ARTISTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Bannen<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chile. A visual artist and psychologist, trained in workshops in drawing, painting, printmaking and ceramics, she explores painting across diverse supports, approaching faces, objects, animals and symbols in search of the subjectivity and fragility of what is observed.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Josefina Carvalho<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chile. A multidisciplinary designer, director of the foundation and company Geute Conservaci\u00f3n Sur, author and printmaker at Taller 99. Her work reflects the diversity of her research and her freedom in expressing what she wishes to communicate: books, painting, drawing, printmaking, jewellery, among other disciplines.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vanina Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Argentina. Doctor in Biological Sciences and visual artist. In 2021 she began intensive training in watercolour, drawing, art history, printmaking and colour theory. Her work reflects her interest in observation, reflection and the analysis of creative processes, and in making her artistic practice a continuous process of inquiry.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Diana Gavi\u00f1o<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain. Diana Gavi\u00f1o is a painter from Seville whose work, influenced by literature and everyday life, explores the female figure and human psychology. With a background in art history, she seeks through her paintings to capture the most intimate feelings and thoughts of people.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Noel de Le\u00f3n<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uruguay. A visual artist and graduate in industrial design from the Escuela Universitaria Centro de Dise\u00f1o (EUCD-UDELAR), she develops her practice with a feminist and exploratory approach. Through drawing, painting and printmaking, her work explores and engages with the domestic and everyday universe, the intimate and political environment of women.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Laura Medina<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colombia. A writer, illustrator and advertising professional, she has exhibited in Bogot\u00e1 and Barcelona. In 2023 she read and illustrated her poem <em>Painting Birds<\/em>, which became a mural and a print as a result of her month-long residency at La madriguera.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Min\u00fa Rao<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuba and India. At the age of 16, this artist moved from Havana to Spain, where she began and completed her training in Fine Arts and Dramatic Arts. She currently focuses on oil painting, although constant exploration is a key element of her work. Her practice spans different disciplines, from performance to fine arts, and delves into emotions, uprooting and loss.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ana\u00eds Vaillant<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uruguay. Graphic designer, illustrator and visual artist. Her work explores the construction of female identity as shaped by contemporary culture.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Milena Vodanovic<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chile.
