On 27 June, the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Art Hyacinthe Rigaud in Perpignan<\/strong> opened the exhibition \u201cJoan Mir\u00f3. Mallorca, the Workshop of Dreams <\/a>\u201d, organised as part of the twinning between the cities of Perpignan and Palma de Mallorca, officially established in 2024.<\/p>\n\n

The exhibition brings together almost one hundred works\u2014including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings, prints and lithographs\u2014among them Marina (Berck) (1873) by Modest Urgell<\/strong>, which is part of the permanent collection display at the Museu d\u2019Art de Girona.<\/p>\n\n

Joan Mir\u00f3 studied at the Escola de la Llotja, where he was strongly influenced by the work of Modest Urgell<\/strong>. The Catalan painter’s landscapes, populated with solitary trees, silent graves and deserted beaches, unfold beneath a horizon line that opens onto an infinite space. <\/p>\n\n
