Bassat Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Girona Art Museum publishes the exhibition catalogue  <em>Masters of Catalan Art of the 20th Century. Bassat Collection <\/em>, a volume that is much more than an exhibition accompaniment: it becomes a tool for consultation and reflection on one of the most outstanding private collections of Catalan contemporary art. With texts by critics, curators and specialists such as Joan Gil Gregorio, Conxita Oliver, N\u00faria Poch, Jaume Vidal, Vicen\u00e7 Villatoro and Carme Clusellas, the book offers a choral story that brings us closer to both the works and the intentions and contexts that surround them. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carmen Orellana and Llu\u00eds Bassat represent a key figure in the Catalan contemporary art scene. For more than four decades, their collection has grown organically and sustainably, driven by a demanding eye and an unwavering commitment to the quality and originality of each work. Their passion is not just aesthetic: it stems from a deep conviction about the transformative role of art in society. For this reason, each acquisition has a well-defined curatorial criterion, which seeks both formal renewal and dialogue with the historical and cultural events of each moment. Beyond gathering significant pieces, Orellana and Bassat have understood collecting as an act of public service. The Bassat Collection, which exceeds 3,000 works between paintings, sculptures and graphic works, is a living tool for exploring the trajectory of Catalan art in the 20th century.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition catalogue structures the exhibition discourse through generations of artists, allowing us to follow a chronological and stylistic line that takes us deeper into the evolution of Catalan art in the 20th century. Despite not wanting to be exhaustive (as it is frankly explained), the selection of 67 works by 63 artists offers a broad and representative vision of the Catalan artistic scene. The choice reflects a clear desire: to show the richness, diversity and creative power of a country that has had its own voice in contemporary European art.
