This has been a historic season for Girona FC. The club’s best year in professional football. It’s certified by the eighty-one points achieved, the third position in the first division standings, and the ticket in the pocket to play in the world’s best club competition. But the club comes from afar and has a history that needs to be reclaimed, especially in years like this. To know where we are, it’s very important to know where we come from.
For this reason, the city’s museums want to offer a journey through the years of Girona FC’s history through emblematic objects and heritage elements of a club that will turn ninety-five next year. From the preceding teams like Strong FC and Unión Deportiva Gerona, the early years, each of the successful or not so successful decades that have preceded us, up to the present. We do this by setting up small spaces or corners in each museum where iconic and unique objects are displayed. We want to reclaim the current success through a journey through history, and we do it thanks to fascinating objects loaned for these exhibitions from the collections of Albert Mateos, Albert Martínez, Joan Granados, the Carmaniu family, Manel Mesquita, Quim Curbet, Joan López Santana, and Girona Football Club.
