On 26 September, the Museu d’Art de Girona presents the fifth edition of Art-Action!, an annual day of artistic experimentation inviting you to explore a material firsthand alongside invited artists and craftspeople. This year is dedicated to stone, a material that has accompanied humankind since the very beginning. Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to work with stone using a range of techniques, discovering its many expressive possibilities.
When we think of stone, ideas such as permanence, eternity and resilience through time often come to mind. Yet, like everything that exists, stone also changes. Wind, water and human intervention continually shape it, reminding us that even what seems immutable is constantly evolving.
Inspired by this idea, we aim to unlock the creative potential found in transforming what once seemed unchangeable, while also reflecting on how vulnerability is itself a condition for change, and how marks, erosion and wear preserve the traces of a history that is constantly being shaped.
No previous experience or technical skills are required—just curiosity and a willingness to discover and create.
Following the success of last year’s edition, dedicated to wood, which welcomed more than a thousand visitors, this year stone takes centre stage.
Millennia of resilience. A day of transformation.
