The coats of arms of the Episcopal Palace of Girona

The wide range of heraldic coats of arms that decorate the walls of the Episcopal Palace of Girona is a privileged source of information for learning about the evolution of the building. The bishops who financed reforms and extensions to the original structure had their coats of arms placed as a physical sign of their intervention, which allows us to trace the chronology of the different areas of the complex. This book studies all these coats of arms, identifies their owners and analyses the architectural works carried out under their rule. All in all, it allows us to advance in our knowledge of the history of the building that today houses the Girona Art Museum, one of the most spectacular and well-preserved residential palaces of the former Crown of Aragon.
