  • Throughout the day, free workshops, talks and performances will be offered for all audiences.

The Girona Art Museum is organizing a new edition ofArt-Action! 3rd Day of artistic experimentation, an annual event that invites visitors to explore artistic procedures, techniques and materials through creativity and active participation. With the aim of fostering inspiration, well-being and creativity, Art-Action! offers an invitation to discover and enjoy the transformative power of art and experimentation with artistic techniques, one of the strategic lines of dissemination of the Art Museum.

The first edition of these days, which are an evolution of Visitor’s Day, was dedicated to mud. In the In the previous edition , dedicated to weaving, the museum welcomed more than a thousand participants.

This year, the focus will be on paper, a material that has been fundamental in the development of human civilization. Its elaboration and production, from the first artisanal mills to industrial production, has had a specific weight in the economy of all times. As a product, it has been one of the supports that many artists have chosen to express their creations with various techniques, from drawing and watercolor to engraving.

The Art Museum’s day aims to discover all these values, and at the same time, explore and experiment with paper. Throughout the day, participants will be able to try out various techniques such as origami, creative collage, ink drawing on paper or the artisanal manufacture of paper, with the guidance of expert artists and craftsmen. Highlights include the inaugural conference “Five thousand years of paper” by Assumpció Vila, the sculpture exhibition “From stone to paper” by Patrícia Maseda, or the postcard workshop “The art of celebrating” organized by the SuperArt group. There will also be activities for families, such as the kirigami workshop “The silhouettes of the museum”, a workshop lettering or free games in the museum rooms. Throughout the day, food and drink service will be offered and a musical break at noon with versions by The Covers Band.

In order to minimize the environmental impact of the day, some of the workshops will use working paper that the museum team has been saving for months. This material, which was originally printed for internal tasks, will now have a second life in the activities, demonstrating the Museum’s commitment to reuse and waste reduction.

Entrance to the Museum and all activities is free for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in this world of paper, art and creativity in Girona on September 28th.
