On May 18th we have a big date with museums: we celebrate International Museum Day! It is the most important event organized, since 1977, by the International Committee of Museums (ICOM) .

In 2026, International Museum Day will explore “Museums Uniting a Divided World” , focusing on how museums can act as bridges that overcome cultural, social and geopolitical divides, fostering dialogue, understanding, inclusion and peace within and between communities around the world.

The Art Museum celebrates it with the presentation of the publication 12 months, 12 works 2025 , as well as with an open day that allows visitors to contemplate pictorial and sculptural works from successive periods and styles (Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Realism, Modernism and Noucentisme), with rooms dedicated to ceramics, glass and liturgical art.

Due to the roof works, some rooms will remain closed, but the altarpieces in the Throne Room can be seen like never before, with two touch screens that allow you to navigate through very high resolution images of each of the altarpieces, and with a mapping projection. which projects fragments of the altarpiece of Sant Pere de Púbol, by Bernat Martorell (1437), directly onto the rigid structure that covers it. A unique visual experience that allows you to see this masterpiece of Catalan Gothic in a completely new way.
