The Art Museums Network of Catalonia has just launched a new online exhibition curated by Professor Ricard Bru Turull, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, under the title “The Eternal Promise: Childhood in Art”. Our museum is participating with some of the works from the collection.
The exhibition proposes a journey through the representation of childhood through the centuries, from the Egyptian figures of the god Harpocrates to contemporary photography, including medieval altarpieces, modernist sculptures, war posters and avant-garde drawings.
Among the Girona pieces that can be discovered there are the Virgin of Hope (1401-1425), the Virgin of Milk by the Master of Canapost (15th century), the Girl Wearing Stockings by Joan Brull (1890), the Sketch of the First Colds by Miquel Blay (1892) and the Virgin of Pontós (15th century).
