From the md'A to the MNAC

On March 19th, a new exhibition will be inaugurated at the National Art Museum of Catalonia, and four pieces from the Art Museum will be present.

It is an encolpium from the 7th-8th century, a portable altar from the 10th century, a capital from 1150-1200, and a relief by the Master of Cabestany, all pieces from the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes. The pieces will form part of the exhibition ” Sant Pere de Rodes and the Master of Cabestany: the construction of a myth “, dedicated to the most brilliant and international sculptor of the Catalan Romanesque, the Master of Cabestany, and his masterpiece, the lost portal of Sant Pere de Rodes, in Port de la Selva (1160-1170).

The exhibition explores the figure of this itinerant artist – active between Tuscany, the French Midi, Catalonia and Navarre – and the numerous questions that still surround his career and his art.

You can see them at the MNAC from March 19 to June 28. And as always, at the Museu d’Art de Girona, whenever you want!
