The Museu houses the most important art collection of the Diocese and province of Girona, offering a journey through unique works of Catalan art. The visit presents paintings and sculptures in chronological order, spanning successive periods and styles (Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Realism, Modernisme and Noucentisme), with galleries devoted to ceramics, glass and liturgical art.

The permanent exhibition begins with a fragment of an Early Christian funerary slab from Empúries. Among the collection’s most significant works are the liturgical ensemble from Sant Pere de Rodes (9th century), the Martirology of Usuard (a 15th-century illuminated manuscript) and one of the most notable collections of altarpieces from the 15th and 16th centuries, alongside outstanding works of the Catalan Renaissance and Baroque. The visit concludes with works by 19th- and 20th-century painters associated with Girona, including Urgell, Vayreda, Rusiñol, Berga and Bertrana.
