The Museum of Art of Girona presents Art-Action!, 1st Day of Artistic Experimentation, a new format designed to bring visitors closer to artistic processes, techniques and materials from the perspective of creativity and first-person exploration.
The Museum of Art of Girona offers a new annual event full of opportunities for creativity. Each year, under the umbrella of a specific material, process or artistic technique, and with the guidance of artists themselves and within the context of the artworks in the collection, the Museum provides a framework for visitors to be inspired, experiment, and unfold their imagination and creativity. Understanding materials and techniques is not the aim in itself of the day; it is only a resource made available by the Museum to offer an opportunity for inspiration and wellbeing, ultimately for creativity.
Creativity is not the exclusive domain of great sages or artists. Human beings are, by nature, creative. At any age, our brain is flexible and adaptable to new and creative experiences. We are co-creators of our reality and can be creative both in everyday life and in exceptional moments.
2022 Edition: CLAY
Clay connects us with what is primordial. Clay and the origin of life are closely linked in many ancient religions and mythologies. Creation through cosmic order gives rise to a Demiurge who kneads the shaping clay of humankind, with earth and water, the two great elements present in nature. Clay is also, in many cases, the seed of artistic creation.
With our hands we will model, press and experience the sensations produced by this wet, malleable and soft material that is clay. Its plasticity will allow our ideas and intentions to emerge naturally and help us discover our creative capacities. Throughout the day, various artists will share their experience with clay with visitors and will guide us, through different artistic techniques, on how to use this material that stimulates us, allows us to create, and to rediscover ourselves.
