Opening: Opening Thursday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m.

Presentation

Before he was a writer, Prudenci Bertrana (Tordera, 1867 – Barcelona, 1941) was a painter. He made the art of drawing and painting his first profession, and it was also his first creative stimulus. On the occasion of the celebration of Bertrana Year, the md’A dedicates a large exhibition to the artistic side of one of the most outstanding writers of Modernisme and collects a large part of his pictorial work: drawings, illustrations, portraits and landscapes. The exhibition offers a broad itinerary through his artistic career: from the first attempts -while searching for his own style-, the commissioned work and the first exhibitions, to his return to painting after years of abandonment, with landscapes, especially of

Berguedà and Cerdanya, which become one of the main sources of inspiration and the act of painting them, an act of liberation.

The exhibition is part of the Bertrana Year events.
