April arrives at the Girona Art Museum full of activities. A month in which art dialogues with literature, in which we leave the Museum to discover dragons and medieval monsters, and in which some of the city’s most unique buildings open their doors in a different way. And who knows if this month doesn’t have some more surprises in store for us…
Calamicleos : art and literature in dialogue
On April 11, at 11:30 a.m., we will host a round table as part of the exhibition ” Calamicleos. Misery and Glory”, by Vicenç Huedo. The participants will be Glòria Granell, director of the Girona Writing Classroom; Rosa Font, writer and professor of Catalan language and literature; and Vicenç Huedo himself, the artist who is the protagonist of the exhibition. A conversation that puts two disciplines that need each other into dialogue.
Dragons and some monsters in Girona Episcopal
On April 18, at 11:30 a.m., we will delve into the medieval imagination of evil creatures.
Led by Joan Piña, art historian and director of the Museum-Treasure of the Girona Cathedral, we will tour the three buildings that make up Girona Episcopal—the Basilica of Sant Feliu, the cathedral and the Episcopal Palace—to discover works of high heritage value such as the tomb of Sant Narcís, the Beatus of Girona or the altarpieces of Sant Miquel de Cruïlles and Sant Pere de Púbol.

The Former Santa Caterina Hospital
On April 23, coinciding with Sant Jordi, we offer two guided tours of the Old Hospital of Santa Caterina —at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.—, today the headquarters of the Delegation of the Government of the Generalitat. A tour of the most unique spaces of this building, which includes one of the oldest and best preserved hospital pharmacies in Catalonia.
The secrets of the Episcopal Palace
On April 25, at 11:30 a.m., it’s the turn of our own building. The Palau Episcopal de Girona is one of the most complete and well-preserved episcopal palaces of medieval origin in Catalonia, and at the same time one of the most unknown. Documented since the 10th century, it preserves remarkable medieval structures despite the transformations over the centuries. In this guided tour we will discover its history, the most fascinating details and some of its most hidden secrets.
