The Museum of Art of Girona returns once again with Art-Action! 3rd Artistic Experimentation Day, an event that invites visitors to explore artistic procedures, techniques and materials through creativity and first-person exploration.
Art-Action! is an annual event that offers the opportunity to express personal creativity. Focusing on a single material, participants are invited to be inspired, experiment and unfold their imagination, guided by invited artists and surrounded by the Museum’s artworks. Although the main objective is not simply to master materials and techniques, these serve as tools provided by the md’A to encourage inspiration, wellbeing and, ultimately, creativity.
In the previous edition, dedicated to textile, more than one thousand people participated and enjoyed the various workshops related to this flexible and diverse material.
2024 Edition: PAPER
Paper has played a fundamental role in the development of human civilization. Like textile, paper has been a vehicle for creativity and expression throughout history. From ancient Egyptian papyri to modern printed books, paper has served as a support for our artistic and written culture, preserving knowledge and ideas over time.
Throughout the day, we will explore the many facets of paper with our own hands. We will fold, cut, glue and transform this malleable material, discovering new forms of artistic expression. Artists and expert craftspeople will guide us through various techniques, from origami and creative collage to handmade paper production, inviting us to experiment and to release our creativity.
These activities will not only allow us to create beautiful objects, but will also help us appreciate the rich history and the infinite potential of this everyday yet extraordinary material.
