Mossèn Pere Valls i Vilà (Olot, 1848 – Barcelona, 1925) gathered, throughout his life, a large and heterogeneous collection that ranged from illustrations of matchboxes to small reproductions of plaster reliefs, as well as quality artistic works in various formats, including one of the best art galleries in the Girona area, with works by Vayreda, Berga i Boix, Federico de Madrazo, Ramon Casas and Pere Mates. It is also worth noting an extensive collection of engravings and a library with works from the 16th to the 19th centuries, which includes unpublished manuscripts. The exhibition presented by the Museu d’Art de Girona explores what was one of the embryos of the current collection, originating from the Bishopric.
